“Her virtues in life are her monument in death.”
This is the not the first epitaph like this I have seen, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It’s a sentiment that makes the sense, but it’s also a little chuckle-inducing to see a grave monument telling you that something else is the buried’s monument. But I get the idea – the way Lydia Reed lived her life was her real legacy and contribution to the world, important regardless of the size or grandiosity of her tombstone.
