Wm. C. Greenwald, M.D. and Ruth Greenwald

There’s an entertaining typo associated with this grave marker, but the typo isn’t on the tombstone itself. The Cleveland Public Library has what is called the Necrology File, a collection of records regarding deaths – cemetery records, newspaper announcements, and other public records. The funny typo is in the entry for Ruth Greenwald, who died in 1968. The line about funeral services transcribed from the Plain Dealer reads “Funeral services will be held at The Saxton Funeral Home, 13225 Detroit Ave., Thursday, Jan. 11. at 4 P. M. Friends Deceived at Time Of Service Only.”
