Next month, one of these photos of the grave marker of newsboy Alfred Williams will appear in Catholic Digest, accompanying a column where the writer will talk about growing up in the Cleveland area as a paperboy. From the request I received to use my photo, it seems that the paperboys’ boss at one time took a group of them to Erie Street Cemetery to see the grave and hear the tragic story of Alfred Williams.

Hi Ashley! Thanks for allowing me to use your wonderful photo to enhance my July/August column in Catholic Digest. My column, PATRICK’S CORNER, has been in the Digest monthly for the past 26 years and tells what it was like growing up in Cleveland in the years following WWII (The Big One). My brothers and I had a shoeshine stand and Cleveland Press hawking station for a dozen years and all of us where introduced to Alfred by our district manager and learned the importance of our jobs in that way. My introduction was in 1948 I believe!
Your photo brings back many fond memories.
If you have not received a copy of that particular magazine with your fine photograph in it please let me know and I will send one to you.
Sincerely,Sean Patrick
