I’ve never seen a stone like this before. This monument marks the final resting place of Daphne Kean Hare (1937-1995) and Peter Hewitt Hare (1935-2008). Daphne Hare earned her medical degree from Cornell University and was a professor in Medical and Biophysical Sciences at SUNY – Buffalo and then the Medical/Dental Division director for the US Veterans’ Administration. Peter Hare was a well-respected philosophy professor at the University of Buffalo. In a twist of fate, I managed to find this information about them by locating the Peter H. Hare Family Papers at the University of Buffalo archives. They contain correspondence to and from both Daphne and Peter, but they’re the Peter H. Hare Family Papers, not the Hare Family Papers.
