I was beside myself with excitement when I saw these tombs in Harrisburg Cemetery.
Look at the two middle markers in the row, the ones that do not have solid bases. Do you see the two stone columns that look like legs holding them up? Those markers are called table tombs, and I have scoured northeastern Ohio cemeteries for one ever since I read about their existence in Stories in Stone. So after at least a year of searching, I found them while visiting Pennsylvania on vacation. They are for members of the Wolf family, and the tops are nearly impossible to make out.
I have just visited the Thomas Stone National Historic Site in Southern Maryland. (He was one of the four Marylanders who signed the Declaration of Independence.) His grave is marked by a beautiful table tomb and there are two more for family members. They are well separated, thus you can see the six legs.
