I’ve got a lot going on, so posts will probably be picture heavy in the next few days. Today I want to look at stones for people with unusual names – whether unique overall or just seemingly anachronistic. In the interest of full disclosure, these grave markers are all in North

First, we have Pliny Martindale, named most likely for the famous ancient Roman leaders of that nickname.

Then there is Enenora Haynes. I could not find the meaning or origin of this name.

Finally, we have Mandane Damon. Mandane was the name of the mother of the Persian Empire’s Cyrus the Great given by Roman historian Herodotus.
