Last weekend, I went over to Lake View Cemetery. It was a dreary cloudy day thanks to Hurricane Earl, the kind where the clouds make a perfect backdrop for the mourning angels staring plaintively at the skies. And while I was walking around taking photographs of sections I had previously only visited in the snow, I found a stone I had posted here before with musings about who the memorialized might be.
At the time, thanks to the snowcover and re- re- re- frozen ice, I could not make out anything but the epitaph “He Lies in Kirtland Hills.” But I found myself standing again in front of the same marker on a blustery autumn-like day and somehow saw the same epitaph again, low to the ground.
